There are generally two different room shapes that you should be looking at creating, Landscape Rooms and Portrait room. Typically audio files will pick Portrait because of popular usage but, don’t confuse that as the only right way to create the space. If you go to a theater, music hall, cinema did you notice the rooms are not like that at all, they are very wide and Landscape.
Depending on what you want to do with the room and the height of the room will define the size and shape pretty much and depending on what speakers you select and the sizes and throw will also have an impact on the final results of listening.

The Second Step is to demolish, dismantle, cut back and gut everything in the selected space all the way back to the concrete and make all surface finishes smooth with a high mass, high density concrete finish.
There after its time to dampening and isolate any vibration footprints and transmission plains followed by the creation of your soundproof isolation shell; not a room within a room but a shell; that’s the first layering.
